Reharmonize Your Discord
There's a newish trend in software development toward hosting product documentation and customer service for small projects on Discord servers. Anecdotally, this isn't a great UX decision:
- For users with questions, it hides necessary information and forces them to join Discord servers they might not want to otherwise, and to sift through endless chat threads and pinned posts to find information about their specific issue.
- For members of an existing Discord community, it ruins the server's social environment by flooding it with new people who don't want to be there, and who unknowingly spam the server by asking the same questions as all the other new people.
- Even if the server were created specifically for customer service, without any existing community, Discord threads are too hard to find information in to be a good place to put documentation.
If you've got docs in your Discord and discord in your docs, I can help you bring harmony to your community and your customer service by creating a website for your product information and FAQs. Contact me for hourly rates and to discuss hosting options. (Remember, Tumblr and Wordpress provide free hosting!)
